Development-focussed litigator with a proactive mindset
I’m a and have been for over 10 years a Partner in Shoosmiths’ property litigation team, supporting developers, investors, commercial occupiers and leisure clients on all matters relating to real estate risks and disputes.
I have a broad expertise across all sectors of the property industry but have particular interest in:
(a) addressing, mitigating and resolving development constraints and disputes. This will often involve matters such as rights of lights mitigation strategies or disputes, site assembly issues and exploiting or circumventing easements/covenants;
(b) the hotel and leisure sector where I act for a number of well known national hoteliers and leisure operators in relation to their asset management issues and major property dispute; and
(c) issues arising out of the fire safety of tall buildings and the additional regulatory requirements and causes of action created by the Building Safety Act.
My recent experience has included
- Navigating to a successful conclusion, a heavily contested application to modify a restrictive covenant that had been preventing a large housing development from being built.
- Litigating and resolving a dispute in relation to the safety of a large central London building due to defective construction issues.
- A major service charge dispute in relation to the costs of substantial remediation scheme for a tall building.
