In the UK it is now generally accepted that electric vehicles (EVs) have reached the tipping point for adoption. Year to date figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that EVs now account for 14% of all new vehicle registrations (up from 8.4% for the same period in 2021). This is only expected to increase with the government’s widely publicised plan to end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in the UK by the end of the decade. World EV Day provides an opportune time to consider a few steps that can be taken to encourage and assist the transition to EVs.
