Central government continues to invest in Solent, with almost £56 million announced by the Transport Minister to transform the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire transport network. The improvements come as part of the government’s commitment to ‘level up’ the entire country.
This injection of funds is to be targeted at local transport hubs and will offer a boost to local economies that have been hit hard by COVID-19. Perhaps most importantly, the projects should improve connectivity in the region, allowing greater access to jobs and services for the people who live in Solent.
