Video: Future of Southampton – The recovery period: better together

The past few months have been like no other for businesses and residents. Now, with the recovery plan in place, the journey for Southampton to grow and evolve as a modern, healthy city has begun.

But it’s not just environmental changes affecting the city, there are behavioural changes having an impact too. So with new social distancing rules in place, limitations on venue capacities and an increase in active travel, how will Southampton adapt to the new demands on the city?

Solent-based real estate partner, Joanne McGuinness, joined a panel at EG’s Future of Southampton virtual event with Gavin Hall - director, planning at Savills, Nick Jones - head of Southampton office at AECOM and Megan Streb, partnerships manager at Sustrans, to discuss the following themes:

  • Is active travel changing the way people use the city?
  • Will high streets be permanently reshaped?
  • How is the city supporting hospitality business with limited outdoor space?
