7 Shoos and the Simply Cup

A team of 7 Shoos got up early for the Simply Asset Finance Cup earlier this month (11 January) and travelled to London dreaming of silverware.

The 5 a side football tournament was held at Battersea Power League against the backdrop of the power station. The event was designed to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

There were 28 teams from the asset finance industry in attendance to support this important cause and after a quick warm up, a welcome from Mike Randall of Simply, a team photo, we were ready to begin.

The Shoosmiths team included – Jonathan Mills, Alex Hincliffe, Jonathan Morris, Mike Lockton, Jack Homan, David Farnell and Kamil Piekarski.

After going down to a 1-0 defeat in the first game we bounced back with a 6-1 win and a 3-2 win. That was enough to get us out of the group stage and into the last 16. We met our opponents, The Funding Circle on the roof terrace. Despite a good effort we were beaten 3-1 and we were out.

An excellent occasion to participate in, contributing to the achievement of nearly £6,000 in funds raised so far.
