World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5th June and encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment. It is supported by many non-governmental organizations, businesses, government entities, and represents the primary United Nations outreach day supporting the environment.
The theme this year focused on solutions to plastic pollution under the campaign #BeatPlasticPollution.
At Shoosmiths, we removed plastic cutlery, plastic plates and plastic cups in 2018- 2019. We try and ensure all our buffet lunches are served in reusable trays or biodegradable containers. We educate, audit and encourage staff to recycle as much as possible. We are also currently looking into using plastic-free sanitary ware for our cloakrooms.
