In December 2019 the Shoosmiths national switchboard team spent their volunteer days at the Weston Favell Emmanuel Church food bank. This is a service provided and run by donations that are given to less fortunate members of our local Northampton community.
The food bank runs from Emmanuel Church in Weston Favell Centre and is a collaboration between Emmanuel, St Peter’s Weston Favell and Storehouse Churches, who all contribute volunteers and food donations to support the food bank.
On Monday 16 December Sue Jeffers and Jenny Peach helped in the store room warehouse checking sale by dates of donations of food to help prepare food parcels.
On Tuesday 17 December Nadia Mumuni and Deborah Bellingham helped sift through the toy donations and prepare them for the hand out food bank day the next day.
On Wednesday 18 December Claire Bogusz and Liz Tonsley helped set up the Food Bank tables within the church and assisted the members of public around the tables helping them pick the items they most needed.
As the switchboard team explained:
“This service has made a huge difference to these people’s lives this Christmas. It was an absolute pleasure to provide our time to assist them.
All three days proved to be a massive assistance to the Emmanuel Church and the food bank service.
Shoosmiths have also provided cardboard boxes to assist with the packing in the store, and the estates management team are looking to offer further volunteer days for such an amazing service provided to the community of Weston Favell and surrounding areas of Northampton.
