Alice is Shoosmiths’ dedicated Privacy & Data knowledge lawyer, providing specialist research, training and insight on all aspects of global privacy and data protection compliance. She was formerly principal legal counsel for the cyber division of a major defence tech company, involved in advising on early AI and data projects involving novel data use, scraping, data security and supply chain control. 

She writes regularly on emerging technologies, and is actively involved in client-side advice across many jurisdictions. She also supports the firm’s internal AI governance, including its pilot of AI-assisted tools, development of its internal policy and AI literacy training.

She has extensive experience advising on anonymisation and privacy-enhancing technologies, data processing for law enforcement, managing cyber risks in the supply chain, cyber compliance, and using data in AI systems.

As a professional support lawyer, she provides training, materials and thought leadership to the team, as well as insight into how privacy principles apply in practice.

She gives regular perspective into the latest global legal and industry developments in the firm’s Global Privacy and Data Updates and is a keen supporter of new entrants into the privacy profession through theJPA.club
