Mahira is a Medical Negligence Paralegal at The Lakes office. She manages her own case load which includes, fatal cases which requires attendance and representations at inquests, pharmaceutical negligence, orthopaedic injury, psychiatric injurie and a variety of claims.  She assists Andrea Rusbridge with the management and progression of complex clinical negligence cases such as cerebral palsy, delayed and misdiagnosis of cancer, complex orthopaedic and spinal cases.

Mahira has also assisted and attended a number of mediation meetings in order to reach a settlement for clients, which have successfully concluded with positive outcomes for the clients.

She is now an Advanced Paralegal (MCILEX) and is currently working towards qualifying as a CILEX lawyer, specialising in clinical negligence. Mahira is dedicated to her job and is passionate about advocating for those affected by medical negligence. She ensures her clients' voices are heard, while maintaining professionalism, empathy, and sensitivity toward them.

In 2024, Mahira received the Young Lawyer of the Year award at the Northampton Law Society Annual Dinner. This highly competitive category saw unanimous agreement among the judges that Mahira met all the required criteria. The judges were particularly impressed by Mahira's exceptional client care, sensitivity towards her clients, and the meaningful relationships she builds with them.

Mahira has continued her interest in helping people by being an active member of Shoosmiths Charity Committee and is involved in decisions about supporting local charities and those who are in need.  She has arranged presentations at a local secondary school in relation to routes into law and career progression within the legal field. Mahira has also attended career events at local schools and at Northampton University; she continues to maintain good relationships with them.

Prior to working at Shoosmiths, Mahira was working as a caseworker/legal assistant at a local high street firm in Northampton. She also volunteered at the Weston Favell Food Bank which also included volunteering in the Money Support Unit within the food bank too. This involved providing support and assistance to clients to access welfare benefits. In 2019, Mahira completed LLB Law with Criminology and in 2020, she completed her Master of Laws and the Legal Practice Course.
