Nick is a senior associate in the real estate disputes team. He has particular experience working with tenants and landlords in the commercial occupier market. This includes opposed and unopposed lease renewals, dilapidations, break rights, forfeiture, debt recovery, consent to alienation and alterations and advising on lease interpretation.
Nick's practice also consists of a blend of other contentious property matters including trespass, possession, telecoms, agriculture, escheat and bona vacantia, boundary disputes, easements and restrictive covenants.
Recent experience includes:
- leading on portfolio management for national retailers with substantial property holdings
- advising on the exercise of conditional break options as part of a client's restructuring project involving significant annual rental values
- protecting an investment landlord's easement at trial, achieving substantial costs recovery
- advising in relation to a multi-million pound terminal dilapidations claim
- successfully settling at mediation a dispute involving issues around land ownership and rights of access
