Rachel Reid is chief operating officer (COO) at Shoosmiths and sits on the firm’s Board. She is responsible for the firm’s operational strategy and management, with all business services areas except finance reporting to her.
She joined the firm in March 2023 and will lead firm's operational excellence agenda to support the firm's ambitious growth strategy.
Rachel has a law firm background and prior to joining Shoosmiths has held COO positions at national, European and international firms, where she has delivered numerous strategic change, growth and development programmes.
Accordingly, Rachel has built up considerable experience in the development of high performance business services functions both nationally and international. She has been at the forefront of numerous legal mergers and acquisitions and has developed operational integration strategies, embedded dynamic systems, delivered people reward, development and D&I change programmes as well as structural change across multiple jurisdictions.
Her work has been recognised by the Financial Times were she was placed in the OUTstanding Top 10 Global LGBT+ Executive Allies in 2015 and again by the Financial Times in 2019 where the firm won the Financial Times Healthiest Place to Work, Medium-sized new entrant category. Rachel also won The Lawyer's Management Individual of the Year Award in 2015.
