Ruby is an Associate in the Intellectual Property team, based in the Manchester office. She advises clients from a wide range of sectors on intellectual property issues, both contentious and non-contentious, with a particular focus on the life sciences sector.
 
Ruby regularly advises high-profile clients on the protection, exploitation and enforcement of their intellectual property rights whilst providing commercial solutions. She advises across the full spectrum of intellectual property rights, including copyright, trade marks, designs and patents.
 
Ruby holds a degree in Biomedical Sciences and a master's in Biotechnology from the University of Manchester. She was awarded the STEM Future Lawyers scholarship in 2019, enabling her to complete the Graduate Diploma in Law. She trained at a City firm for two years before joining Shoosmiths in 2025. Her experience includes a secondment to the legal department of a leading pharmaceutical company, where she supported both commercial and litigation matters.
 
Ruby’s life sciences background is invaluable when advising on transactions such as R&D collaborations, manufacturing and distribution agreements, and litigation settlements. It also enables her to work closely with clients and scientific experts to refine the technical details of intellectual property disputes.
