Victoria is an experienced Intellectual Property specialist focusing on patent litigation and strategic patent advice.

She advises clients on all IP rights in relation to a wide range of technologies, and has been involved in precedent-setting copyright and patent cases as well as disputes involving trade marks, designs and breach of confidence. Victoria has built a strong reputation for handling complex patent disputes and has acted in some of the leading cases before the UK courts. Many of her cases are multi-jurisdictional and she is skilled in strategically co-ordinating complex cross-border patent actions.

Victoria has deep expertise in SEP and FRAND licensing disputes within wireless communications and other standards-based industries. She acted for a major US wireless communications company in one of the largest patent actions before the UK courts, involving 35 patents declared 'essential' to 3GPP standards. More recently she led the technical case in a precedent-setting patent and FRAND case in relation to Digital Subscriber Line technology and patents declared essential to IEEE standards.

Victoria also has considerable experience in life sciences patent and SPC litigation and has acted for pharma clients to defend challenges to their blockbuster drug patents as well as for pharma companies specialising in generic medicines and medtech clients to advise on market access strategies, provide FTO analysis and successfully ‘clear the way’. Among many leading cases, she acted for a well-known generic pharma company in its successful revocation of an SPC for a dual-combination drug used for the treatment of HIV, including a reference to the CJEU.

Victoria utilises her unparalleled knowledge of issues in the wireless communications industry to advise clients in a range of digital technologies such as connected vehicles, smart energy, IoT and digital health - on issues from R&D and technical standards through to FRAND licensing and strategies for enforcement. Clients also benefit from Victoria’s technical background in software development, enabling her quickly to grasp software-based innovations to advise on patentability or to enforce copyright in software or rights in confidential information.

For clients outside Europe, Victoria adds strategic value in leading multi-jurisdictional patent matters across Europe and advising on the UPC and unitary patent. Speaking fluent German, she provides a seamless service on matters with a German aspect.
